Keep in mind that sometimes the carriers do not cover the connections. In these cases, you will have to recheck your bag on your own. The self baggage transfer might be required if:
- You have paid for tickets separately and received two or more booking confirmations.
- You have a stop at an intermediate point in one’s journey for more than 8 hours.
- You need to change terminals that are not connected within large airports.
- There is a self-transfer during a layover when you have to change the airport within the same trip. In this case, you might need to leave the transit zone going through customs or security one more time.
We strongly recommend checking directly with the carrier for the coverage of the connections as it depends on the fare, routing, and the airlines involved.
